Some of your less-discerning friends are falling victim to this disinformation campaign, and I encourage you to shame them for it.
Trump isn’t on either of these “sides” and never was. Do your research! His entire brand from the day he came down the escalator (and long before) is literally the solution to the plantation problem being laid out in this video.
That’s why they want him dead.
You can hate him for all the reasons media taught you, but you can’t argue in good faith he’s just a “Republican candidate.” By the way, do yourself a favor and make sure the reasons you’re unable to vote for him aren’t on a (very long and embarrassing) list of hoaxes.
Call out everyone you know who parrots this bothsides nonsense. Frankly this year I haven’t heard a single argument for not voting that isn’t just another version of this juvenile lie. There’s never been a more obvious case of voting for or against a totally broken system. Here’s one very simple clue to how this works, and why there’s no such thing as bothsides in this election:
If you love the system as-is today, we know exactly who you’re voting for. It’s that simple.
You can of course say it’s all a lie, that nothing will change, that everything Trump promises to do is some kind of grift or fabrication. But the evidence from his first term with nothing but opposition and enemies surrounding him tells a different story. He branded media “fake news,” which they are. He never once stopped calling out the Russia hoax. He literally went to the G7 and rightly told them all to go to hell. At every turn he refused to be bullied, and fought for the construction of a very large section of border wall, amidst nothing but frantic, bad faith opposition. He changed how it all works, forever.
That’s not a bothsides guy, and never will be.
There’s so much more than Trump on the ballot here, there’s a whole team of reform-minded people with near zero political tethers or obligations to the old guard. They’re in this to send some of the worst people in DC packing, and there’s no doubt about it.
I’m sorry to say this so bluntly, but sitting it out this year is either an embarrasingly uninformed choice, or just plain cowardice.
But it’s not too late to reverse course. Get out there and help them see, encourage every “sit it out” friend of yours to vote, and as a symbol of your newfound engagement with the world, buy one of these t-shirts at the link below. Proceeds go toward book publication.
While I doubt voting has any real impact on the behemoth that is our government(s), this choice is painfully obvious. You either vote for a completely unqualified figurehead who's nothing but a marketing strategy or someone who at least professes to be willing to take on the indescribable waste that our federal government has become.
Thanks for sharing, Nicholas.
Both sides are the same in the UK, and the PARTIES in the USA probably are, but Trump, like Farage here are not.
